Writer’s Rescue is for self-seekers who don’t know where to look or how to begin. Join me! The journey starts with paper and a pen.

The grooves of your life’s current patterns can be so deep and repetitive that you find yourself going in circles…unable to get out. I’ve spent a great deal of my life in those trenches. Caught up in periods of…

  • Dismay

  • Distress

  • Discontent

  • Disappointment

I’ve found that rescuing myself from these states and relaxing into peace is a practice that I must pick up and work on daily. Writing is a key part of that process.

What Restarts Have Revealed

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve either stalled out or rebooted my life trying to figure out who I am and what I’m here for. I’ve fumbled around, starting and stopping so many projects over the years. This Substack is no exception. I’ve rewritten this page you are reading right now a silly number of times. I think that what finally got this page published was getting clear about a few things...

  • Figuring myself out is part of the process.

  • No one really knows what they are doing.

  • I don’t have to pretend that I know.

It takes bravery to express yourself amid uncertainty—courage to give voice to your thoughts with words and risk facing judgment. Fears rise up and say, “Delete, delete, delete”.

All I know is when I pick up my pen, pause to close my eyes, open them, and then give my thoughts physical form on paper…I feel connected to the me that’s within.

Journal the Journey Within

A blank page can be the perfect field for walking out and working through the fears and feelings with. We can take the thoughts out of our heads and isolate them on the page, where we can examine them in physical form as words. And somehow, in doing so, we can see them more clearly and parse them from triggered emotions. New perspectives are revealed so we can choose conscious action instead of unconscious reaction.

That’s the power of writing!

The art of writing is not reserved for novelists, poets, journalists, professors, and professionals. The act of writing is more than a means of information exchange. It’s a way to work out what’s within.

The more I write, the more I find that writing is a tool for self-discovery, creative expression, personal growth, emotional wellness, and connection. It lets me tap into the quiet peace inside of me that knows who I am and what step to take next. The peace that doesn’t guarantee outcomes but assures me that I’ll make it through. The peace that lets me release the need for a perfect landing so I can be light enough to fly when I take the next leap.

That’s the gift of writing!

My purpose with Writers Rescue is to discover and share everything I can about using writing as a tool to reveal ourselves to ourselves. Ultimately, that is what we are all born to do. So whether you are here to release your creativity, your emotions, your fears, or your dreams, writing is a key you can use to unlock those doors.

Every day you are writing your story. Feelings become thoughts, thoughts become words, words become actions, and thus your life story is written. Writing helps you think about what you are thinking about. And in doing so, you may find that there is a need for revision. So here’s what you can expect…

  • Concepts, ideas, and processes to help you navigate your inner journey.

  • Writing prompts that spark creativity and reveal new perspectives.

  • Frameworks that take you on a writing journey of personal discovery.

  • Co-writing community that supports and encourages your writing practice.

And much more as we continue to explore together.

That’s the practice of writing!

Remember, anytime is a good time to write. The best time to start your writing practice is now. And the best way to write consistently is with support. So subscribe below, and let’s see where the journey takes us!

  • If you write, you are a writer.

  • Perfection creates pain.

  • Practice creates power.

Her philosophy opens the door for all who desire to find themselves, find meaning, and find peace by simply putting pen to paper.
